PhD Student Position in Theoretical Nuclear Physics

The nuclear theory group at Chalmers University of Technology invites applications for a PhD student position. The members of the theory group are Christian Forssén, Lucas Platter and Mikhail Zhukov.

Scholarship Details:

Our research interests span nuclear structure and reaction theory, few-body physics, effective field theory, density functional theory and the physics of ultracold atomic gases. The Ph.D. research project will lie within one, or several, of these fields. A Ph.D. position at Chalmers is for 4 years of research and course work and can be extended for up to 1 extra year depending on the degree of involvement in teaching duties.

Position Details:

The position is funded by the European Commission via the grant ERC-StG ANSR. The successful candidate will benefit from existing and productive scientific collaborations with researchers in Europe and North America.

Required Qualification Details:

Applicants should have a M.Sc. degree in Physics or Engineering Physics. The scientific interest of the candidate should be within theoretical physics. Experience and interest in computational physics methods is desirable.

Scholarship : Library Internships, Duke University – USA

Scholarship Introduction:
Four Special Collections Library internships (Reference Intern, Archival Processing Intern, Advertising History Intern, and African American Studies Intern) are made available by the Graduate School and the Perkins Library. These are 9-month internships that each provide a stipend (equivalent to the Graduate School minimum stipend established each year), as well as tuition, health and recreation fees. In addition, the Graduate School will pay the health insurance premium for recipients who enroll in the Duke student medical insurance plan.

Eligibility for scholarship:
Applicants must have completed the preliminary exam by the end of the Spring 2011 semester.
Generally, strong preference will be given to applicants whose time at Duke as of the internship starting date has not exceeded six years.
Students may hold Library Internships for no more than two years.
All positions require ability to work independently and efficiently after initial training; reliability; excellent communication skills; ability to work well with other staff members; interest in working with primary source materials.
Research experience or employment in a manuscript, archival, or rare book repository is desirable. In addition, the following abilities and skills are highly desirable for these positions:
For the Reference Internship, strong public service orientation and ability to work well with a variety of researchers (students, faculty, and general public).
For the Archival Processing Internship, strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills.
For the Advertising History Internship, interest in and knowledge of business or popular culture, particularly advertising and marketing; as well as strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills.
For the African American Studies Internship, interest in and knowledge of African and African-American history and culture.
No other award (whether fellowship or service-related) may be held concurrently with this internship without special permission from the Dean.

Full PhD Scholarship – Forestry and Environmental Science phd admission

A full PhD scholarship is available to work on a major externally funded project within the Environmental Futures Centre at Griffith University. Project: Wyaralong dam carbon offset and greenhouse gas investigation program Funded by: Queensland Water Infrastructure The successful PhD candidate will work on carbon dynamics in soils and sediments of Wyaralong dam areas under the joint supervision of Dr Chengrong Chen, Professor Zhihong Xu and Dr Tim Blumfield (all members of the Environmental Futures Centre).
