PhD Admission Studentship in Advanced Magnetic Resonance Techniques,UK

Due to funding, this grant only for nationals of the United Kingdom and the EU.
Call for Nominations for the scholarship on her doctorate at the University of Cambridge in the MR Research Center, Institute of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology. The center is known worldwide, collided with a focus on the use of quantitative magnetic resonance imaging methods and their application to problems in the research process technology. The student will complete by the Nestlé Research Center, Lausanne, Switzerland is financing. The project will focus on understanding the physical properties of foams in terms of stability and production. Foams are ubiquitous in dietary factors and the effects of many that the consumer important as the taste and texture. The project aims to increase basic knowledge and practices to increase our ability to develop new foods into foam.
This project includes the development and implementation of advanced quantitative techniques such as magnetic resonance spectroscopy, fast pulsed field gradient magnetic resonance spectroscopy, multi-dimensional relaxation of exchange and micro-fluidic micro-imaging to new discoveries of physics "microfluidics" Generation of food foams and emulsions purchase . In addition, require the successful candidate to integrate research on the stability and the subsequent aging of the foam / emulsion in terms of size and drainage and for opportunities, new techniques, developed in the research project in a "low range" refers to magnetic resonance measurements in production at the factory. The project will travel regularly to include the research center in Lausanne and ongoing consultation with engineers from industrial processes and Nestle scientists.

The successful candidate should have a strong physics/mathematical background (preferably holding, or expecting to gain, a first class or upper 2:1 (honours) masters degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or physics) and should be able to demonstrate a high level of practical and communication skills.
